Breanne Hatfield

Breanne joined the Montpetit laboratory in January 2024 after obtaining her PhD in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Breanne’s graduate work focused on how dynamic mRNA structure during translation promotes the function of RNA regulatory proteins. She is now interested in how RNA binding proteins organize and package nuclear mRNAs for export. More specifically, how does mRNA structure and RNA binding protein occupancy direct efficient nuclear export and what changes during stress or disease.
