Department Research Day

The Cell Biology Students Association hosted their annual Research Days on October 1st and 2nd.  Dr. Heidi McBride (McGill University) was the invited keynote speaker this year and she was a big hit with everyone.  Her talk was informative and she was very easy to chat with during the student lunch.  Students also had the opportunity to participate in a Careers in Science Panel Discussion with panel members from the University, government and industry.

Over the two days students presented posters about their work and three students were awarded talks.  We are proud to say Biplab was awarded a talk and did a fantastic job.  He is still unsure if being “awarded” a talk is really a prize or just more work.

Azra presenting each speaker. We are also pleased to announce Azra won an award for Best Overall Poster Presentation and Brenda presented her very first poster ever.

 

Brenda is looking a little tense presenting her poster to three professors, including our Department Chair, but she did a great job.

 

We swear Dr. Heidi McBride was the keynote speaker not Biplab! Somehow Biplab always finds his way to the centre of every group photo.
