Big News Big Changes

As the winter term comes to a close things are changing in the Montpetit Lab.  Our Post-doc Judit is finished her time in our lab and heading to the UK.  We will miss her and her beautiful protein purifications and wish her all the best in the future.

Biplab is arranging to spend 2 months at the University of Montreal to learn some new techniques in bioinformatics (whatever that might mean…) from Dr. Sebastian Pechmann.  He will be heading out sometime in June if all plans proceed as expected.

Our two undergrad students have finished their projects and handed in their keys.  Iryna and Shweta were wonderful additions to the lab and we are sorry to see them go.  We tried to convince them to stay and work for the summer but they said no…  Lucky for Azra and Kelly, Brenda has agreed to stay so the lab won’t be totally empty.

In other lab news:

• Biplab is anxiously awaiting to hear the results of his submitted paper.  We all have our fingers crossed another bottle of champagne will be needed before he heads to Montreal.
• Azra passed her candidacy exam and is officially a PhD student!
• Brenda has been accepted into Med School pending a police check that we are fairly certain she will pass…
• Azra was awarded an NSERC CGS D award and a Med Star award.
• Kelly has accepted a new position with our Department Chair, Dr. Rick Rachubinski.
